Sandy Marshall is originally from Gurdon, Arkansas. Her dad did pipeline construction so they moved almost every 3 months then would always come back to Gurdon when he was was not on a job. Moving a lot instilled the love of traveling in her.
Met her husband in the 10th grade and he was in the 11th. They went through High School together, then college. Both graduated from Henderson and then Jim went into the Army.
Jim’s First Assignment was Fort Benning, Georgia for 2 months then deployed to Bamberg Germany from 1974 to 1977. Places lived are Ft Benning, Georgia; Ft Dix, NJ; Ft Lee, VA 3 times and Ft Polk, LA, then back overseas to the Netherlands for 3 years. Traveled to France, Sweden, Switzerland, Austria, Spain, Belgium, England and Italy. Favorite was England.
Moved to Fort Smith in July 1991, husband joined them 6 months later where he had been stationed in the Sinai Desert for a year. It only took them 18 years to get back to Arkansas and where Jim finished his last two years in the army at Ft Chaffee and retired as a LT Colonel after 20 years in the army.
They have been in this area for 31 years with 2 grown kids and 6 grand kids and one great grandson Abe Who keeps them young.
She is still traveling a lot and loves it.
